For those of you new to Chiangmai’s gay scene, Scott and Run at Soho Bar and the guys at House of Male run good bars which are fun and popular with the locals.
Check out the Lavender Sky Rooftop Restaurant. The Lavender Sky rooftop restaurant at Lavender Lanna hotel offers a stunning view of the city and excellent food. New times for the Lavender Lanna Cabaret showtimes are 10.30 and midnight and the for Power Boys Go Go is 9.30 pm to 2am. The Cabaret has started a special early cabaret show aimed at tour groups or anyone not wanting to see the Go Go boys at 8 pm for 400 baht including a drink are also deals for massages and poolside drinks (more info at www.lavenderlannahotel.com), but what caught my eye was the Heinekin Beer Buffet, for 149 baht you can drink all the beer you want for 3 hours from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. As a beer drinker it seemed too good to be true!
Two new venues opened recently, the Post Club Bar/Restaurant who the proprietor is a young Thai man named Lafat who has a comprehensive menu of Thai and European specialties including a few Italian dishes. The appetizers range from 50 to 95 baht, light meals are 50 to 100 baht, mains average 100 to 150 baht, he also has a well stocked bar. Located at 2 /lane 1 Muen Dam Pra Kot Road, [just passed Rajabhat University - turn left after 7-Eleven]. Tel: 084.3 40.0867.
Richard who used to work at the old Doi Boy has opened the new Memory at Soi 3 Sri Donchai Road. He has only been open a few weeks and has plenty of work ahead of him but he has a team of willing workers to help out. Thai food is available from 12 noon till late.
