HIV/GAY RESOURCES 2008



Anjaree is a Bangkok-based lesbian group that has been actively championing gay rights since the late 1980’s. PO Box 322, Rachdamnern Post Office, BKK 10200, 02-668-2185 (recorded message in Thai).
Bangkok Pride Coalition (www.bangkokpride.org) is a membership group made up of individuals, community-based organizations, and Bangkok businesses.

Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (www.fasiroong.org) is Thailand’s first registered and legalized GLBT community-based organization. The mission of Rainbow Sky focuses on the quality of life of GLBT people in terms of being accepted, behavior, mentality, emotion, human rights, and equality. The website also provides information on sexual health issues of GLBT people, HIV/AIDS, and drug use, among many other issues.

Silom Community Clinic (www.silomclinic.in.th) is now open offering the following services: HIV and syphilis rapid testing, HAV and HBV testing, HBV vaccine, Syndromic Evaluation for other sexually transmitted infections,
CD4 count, TB evaluation, early HIV care, and referral for anti-retroviral
and anti-micro bacterial treatment for those who are HIV positive. All services are free of charge. Targeting Thai men who have sex with men, the clinic is open Tuesday to Saturday 16.00 – 22.00, Bangkok Christian Hospital, 3rd floor, Silom Road.

SWING (Sex Workers in Group) (www.swingthailand.org) is a volunteer group that works with male sex workers in Bangkok and Pattaya. The volunteers
go out to massage shops, saunas, and go-go bars to talk to the workers about safe sex and distribute free condoms. Their office is on Patpong Road, between Silom and Suriwongse.

Bangkok Rainbow Organization (www.bangkokrainbow.org) provides advice to media representatives when covering gay issues. BRO organizes events such as seminars and workshops with funds from donations, and sponsorship mainly by Thai Health Promotion Foundation, a unit under the Prime Minister’s Office. The group is very active in accessing the public via various media channels with well-attended programs such as talks on controversial issues and casual meetings on various topics aimed at promoting
the better understanding of homosexuality and its related issues in Thailand.

PGF – Pattaya Gay Festival founded 8 years ago and has raised more than 22 million Baht with the main benefactor is Heartt 2000 Charity, an HIV/AIDS related organisation here in Pattaya getting medications to patients in need, as well as other Charities. PGF is known for quality dinners and events and culminates with the Final Four Days of Fun & Fund raising events from 29 November to 2 December.

Mplus+ (www.mplusthailand.com) is a non-profit organization based in Chiang Mai that works primarily to promote sexual health for men who have sex with men (MSM). Mplus+ was founded by USAID in 2004 after reports of increased HIV/AIDS prevalence among the MSM population in Northern Thailand. Although male sex workers (self-identified as gay or heterosexual) are their most important target group, Mplus+ also serves the gay, bisexual, lesbian, and transgender communities.

Take Care (www.takecarepattaya.com). The mission of the TAKE CARE!! – SAFE SEX PROJECT is to provide information regarding the PREVENTION
of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) as well as distributing safe-sex packs, containing condoms and lube, to encourage prevention of various STI’s including HIV.
