Favorite Sauna’s of Silom
Probably the second most popular sauna in Bangkok is Chakran Sauna. Located near Soi Aree and very close to the BTS, it is a converted Thai home in a residential area, and is very discreet. It has a nice (small) pool to relax around and watch the cuties playing in the water. There are a lot of clean, private rooms to choose from, and several floors to explore. There is a sitting area to relax and meet guys. The mix is probably 70/30% Thai to farang, but you will not feel uncomfortable. No money boys, just nice young men looking for a good time. There is a video room to watch videos or read, and a small workout-gym area. As with most saunas, there are free condoms; please make use of them.
Located in the Thai neighborhood of Ramkhamhaeng is Farose II Spa and Sauna. It claims to be the biggest sauna in the world. It has a great, fully-equipped gym in a lovely garden setting. There’s a large swimming pool, a karaoke room, and the steam rooms and dark rooms are very clean and well maintained with many private “guest” rooms in which to enjoy safe sex. Free food and drinks are included in the price of admission. Although the sauna is not centrally located, it does draw a large farang crowd on the weekends, but the crowd is still predominately Thai.
Back in the Silom area is Sauna Mania, located on Soi Phipat (Soi 3) between Silom and Sathorn. It is a neat little townhouse that has been converted into a sauna. The roof-top is great for relaxing in the sun in a nicely landscaped, jungle setting. There is a small gym area for working out, or watching the muscle guys working out. This place is a big hit among the Thai’s that frequent the area, but farangs are welcome also. It’s very popular on weekends, and always full of a lot of cute, Thai, young men. It’s very pleasant to cruise around and check out the guys; they will pick you, and off you go to a clean “guest” room. Remember, safe sex always!
Another sauna not too far from there is Heaven Sauna. It is on Silom, close to the river, but walking distance from the Silom gay area. It is on the 4th floor of an office building, but is discreet. It is very nicely decorated and well maintained with a great roof-top area for relaxing and enjoying the Jacuzzi. There is a full bar, nice restaurant, fully equipped gym, and a karaoke room. Mostly Thai for Thai, but farangs are welcome. It is very cruisy, and many guys hang out in the changing/shower room; very convenient. This place is not frequented by money boys, but a crowd of mostly professional Thais looking for a good time. It is small, and in the evenings can fill up quickly.
While it is impossible to list all the venues, you can find most of them right here in SPICE! or on our website, www.spicemag.net.
